Hello Friends,
Welcome to Karen Carpenter Avenue. A new blog dedicated to the one and only Karen Carpenter.
I don't know about you but I consider Karen to be the world finest singer to ever live. Her voice was rich, soulful, dark, cheerful, melancholy, tender, bold, expressive, deep and chillingly perfect.
She was also an outstanding drummer. Her drumming style. like her singing, was original and understated. She specialized in jazz patterns and had a perfect sense of rhythm and timing.
Please friends... join in and share a few words on your feelings about Karen Carpenter.

I love Karen. Her voice soothes my day. She was a one of a kind.
ReplyDeleteKaren's voice and their music has been a good friend and shoulder to cry on when I've needed it. Like a little candle in the night. Thanks for making this blog........MaryMixx
ReplyDeleteFrom the day I first heard Karen sing the opening line "Why do birds suddenly appear..." back in the summer of 1970 until this very day, I've been a Karen Carpenter fan. There was never anyone who could sing every song and instill it with a sense of profound meaning.
ReplyDeleteI have never heard a voice to this day that can match Karen's natural beauty. She was flawless. Her talent as a drummer was never recognized and that is a shame because she played with as much passion as her singing. Long live the "Carpenters".

Karens family and the rest of us was blessed to have her in our lives. I cried when God called for her to go home. My heart goes out to everyone including her family. I loved her voice. She was definitely a wonderful person.
ReplyDeleteShe was an incredible talent. But her sadness, which overcame her life, also permeated her beautiful voice, which had a rich, thoughtful quality that only those with deep pain can project through their art. It also gave her great depth and beauty.
ReplyDeleteKaren was the most amazing singer xxx

ReplyDeleteThe day that Karen passed away was a very sad day for the music world. It was a shock and a sad way to loss your life. Her voice was perfect and her music was beautiful and well written (thank you Richard). I only wish that I could have seen The Carpenters live.
ReplyDeleteKaren's Magnificant Voice I first heared when I was 12, I heard her sing Close To You, and I was sold for the rest of my life. Carpenters were and will be always my number one musicgroup. The day Karen passed, was very sad to Richard and Mary, and later the children, who never got to reallyknow their beautyful and talented warmhearted Aunt.
ReplyDeleteThe legacy which is there is grand and it is an honor and life's fullfilling chance to listen to the finest music aver arranged, written, performed, played and sang!
Hi! I saw the Karen Carpenter Story on TV. I did think she had a special voice but what I retain was her will to play the drum and her sucess to play the drum... I did understand, only, when watching it for the second time on TV again that she has died so young ..Shame!
ReplyDeleteKaren was always my favorite singer as long as I can remember. I was learning the drums before I knew she was a drummer. When I found out that she was a drummer, she became my biggest inspiration to play the drums. So whenever I feel like my drumming isn't that great, I think about Karens drumming. I want to be a good drummer just like her :)
ReplyDeleteKC IS THE BEST IN THE WHOLE ENTIRE WORLD FOREVER AND EVER! KC
ReplyDeleteThe most purest voice ever! The greatest singer ever!
ReplyDeleteI am in absolute awe of Karen and Richard. Playing their music in my car and singing along gives me such joy - I absolutely adore them. When I listen to 'Goodbye To Love' especially on the vocal bit before the guitar bit at the end I getting the biggest goose bumps. What an inspiration. Love them! Love them!
ReplyDeleteHer voice touches my heart!
ReplyDeleteKaren, I love you!
To think that Karen would now be 62 years old and dare to speculate what she would have accomplished to the present day.
ReplyDeleteThe obvious comparison is to Mozart and what he woud have produced had he been spared beyond 35 years.
Thank you Karen and Richard for your incomparable contribution to the pop music genre.
